On this day, 18 Years ago, I woke up in Austin, Texas where I lived with my husband and my two-year-old son. I got a cup of coffee and sat down at the table. I turned T.V. and the channel I was watching had a blank screen with the message, “Due to the tragedy in America”, and that is all I saw. I immediately turned to the news channel and within minutes watched the second plane fly into the World Trade Center. I, like everyone else was stunned. The rest of my day I was focused on the news channel. Never in my life had I nor anyone else in the U.S. experienced that degree of disaster. It was an event like the assassination of President Kennedy that people remember where they are, and what they are doing because it is so profound. Hours later Building 7 collapsed to the ground is a swift single movement.
As I write this blog, I want you to know this is dedicated to the thousands who died that day and have died since the attack due to their exposure to the hazardous materials. They are heroes, and first responders that faced a dangerous situation to help rescue the living, remove the dead, and clean up the debris. The nation owes you much more than you have received.
7 World Trade center was a 47 story, red masonry building completed in 1987. It sat at the corner of Greenwich and Versey Streets across from buildings 5 & 6 at World Trade Center Plaza. It was sandwiched between Verizon and the U.S. Post Office. The Salomon Bros Investment Bank became its major tenant which enabled the struggling building to obtain more tenants. By September 2001 building 7 contained offices for the Department of Defense, The C.I.A. the I.R.S., the Secret Service, Department of Emergency Management (OEM) and the Securities and Exchange Commission. The building was destroyed on September 11, 2001. That day terrorists flew 2 planes into the North and South Towers also knows as WTC 1 and 2, at the World Trade Center. The initial attacks collapsed the twin towers killing over 3000 people. Building 7 crumbled to the ground at 5:20 p.m. almost 8 hours after the attack. It was not struck by a plane.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) lost a substantial number of files for 3000-4000 ongoing cases, lost forever in the tragedy. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) lost documents for 45 cases. Before the attack, SEC investigations of corporate fraud by companies such as Enron and Worldcom were the subject of many news reports -- reports that vanished in the “wake of the attack”.
There is a twofold theory surrounding the collapse of the building. The first part is a general theory about the entire disaster. It states the government played a role in the terrorist attack that destroyed the twin towers and collapsed building 7, either intentionally or at least had some prior knowledge. The second conspiracy theory is that building 7 was purposely demolished, it did not collapse because of fires as was reported by NIST and FEMA.
After the building collapsed, FEMA assembled a team they referred to as the Building Performance Assessment Team. The produced a report called the ‘World Trade Center Building Performance study’. The investigators (engineers) were not granted access to the site. Materials examined were pieces of metal sent from Fresh Kills Landfill. The rest of the metal was sold for scrap metal and sent overseas. In chapter 5 of the WTCBPS, the report says that there is little information on the ignition and development of fires in building 7, or the specific fuels stored there. The report states it is LIKELY the fires started from debris from WTC 1 (One World Trade Center). I have included a link for the report in the citations, if you cannot get to it, I have it downloaded (Chapter 5 deals with building 7). Just send a request to me at email@example.com.
There was another report, the National Institute of Standards and Technology or NIST report, that complied information regarding the terrorist attack on 9-11. The report stated that the building was brought down by fires generated from office furnishings. Building 7 was erected on an existing Consolidated Edison of New York electric power substation owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The report stated the structure endured fires for almost 8 hours. It went on further to reveal the fires were like other fires that occur in tall buildings where the automatic sprinklers failed to work. The other buildings did not collapse due to the fires but building 7 did. Furthermore, the building and the records stored there were destroyed. All the materials from the building were disposed of before the investigation. Why?
I have watched one video suggesting that the collapse of building 7 did not resemble an organized demolition, they point to the fact the building fell on Verizon and caused almost $1 billion in damage. WTC 7 did fall straight down in one continuous motion. Also why didn’t Verizon or the Post office, collapse?
There were no fatalities as the building was evacuated when the North and South Towers were destroyed. Yet the documents conclude that the building could not have been saved, unless the fires burning inside had been extinguished before the combustible materials were consumed. I know most of the City was consumed by the Twin Towers WTC 1 and 2 but why was this not dealt with if people were watching the building burn? Though there was much damage to the Verizon building next door it did not collapse. The damage to Verizon came from building 7. Why didn’t buildings 4, 5 and 6 collapse when they were hit with more debris than building 7 from the from WTC 1 and 2?
Authors Don Paul and Jim Hoffman have a theory. In their book, “Waking up from our Nightmare”, they reveal that in February 2002, Silverstein Properties, Blackstone Group, Bank of America Securities and General Motors Acceptance Corp. received a court award of $861 million from insurance on Building 7. Silverstein Properties became lease holders (99-year lease) for the WTC twin towers 2 months before they were destroyed. They had insurance on the property and a and a clause on how to collect:
- If an ‘attack from terrorism’ happened to the building, they were not responsible to pay their lease. It was voided.
- They could however collect on insurance.
They had invested $386 million into the properties before the attack they saw a net gain of $475 million. Silverstein is still contesting the payout due to the destruction of the Twin Towers, $3.55 billion for one occurrence or $7.1 billion for both. After settling with the court, Silverstein was awarded $4.6 billion. (Hartocollis, 2008)
There was a renowned scientist Dr. Steven Jones who wrote a paper analyzing the attacks on 9-11 from a scientific approach. He reminded us that Dick Cheney did formulate the original theory of the attacks:
“All of that [the US military role of the 20th century] changed on September 11th… We saw on 9/11 nineteen men hijack aircraft with airline tickets and box cutters and killed more than 3,000 Americans in a couple of hours.” (Jones, 2006)
We all bought it; the attacks of 9/11 solidified our nation. We were grieving, and we were angry, later we went to war. We bought the explanation of the collapse of building 7, one in which the investigators were not allowed to examine the site, only pieces of debris. Then They were only given limited information (mostly on floors 8-46). How is that a legitimate investigation? Later when people woke up, and had questions they were rebuffed, called conspiracy theorists and set aside with the tin foil hat wearing brigade. It made people dig deeper into available information and trust what we were being told even less.
The collapse of 7 looks like a controlled demolition many architects and engineers have come forward to state that diesel fuel and those fires could not reach the temperature needed to melt the steel…Danny Jowenko, a demolitions expert in Europe remarked when he viewed the collapse (not knowing it was part of the terrorist attack in New York) it is a “controlled demolition”. A 576-foot structure collapse in 6.5 seconds. The debris field was much smaller due to the fact the building went straight down until the end when much debris landed on Verizon.
Danny Jowenko can’t speak on it anymore he died in a car accident. The news did not report his death. I found it on a forum and on You Tube. These forums and sites are called “truther” sites. The name given by people who don’t believe the theories and have used the word “truther” to discredit the people and the information that is being revealed. I have looked at some of these sites as they are good sources of information. As I keep digging, I uncover questions and answers in the sometimes in the same forum.
For example, one forum stated there was debris that was circulated on the east coast, pieces of steel in exhibits proving the debris was not removed. How much debris do you think comes from a 47-story building? Someone in the forum revealed the names of businesses hired to remove most of the debris. NYC’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) issued contracts to four contractors, called Construction Managers:
- The Tully Group-It is on their website; they did help clean up 9/11
- Bovis Lend Lease Group-Now Guidepost Solutions
- Amec, LLC
- Turner Construction who worked at rebuilding building 7 at the WTC
They have the information on their websites. Weeks after 9/11 the marina created 2 steel offloading sites at Pier 26 to help facilitate a quick removal, much was sent overseas.
Then there was story of Barry Jennings. Jennings was the Deputy Director of Emergency Services Department for the New York City Housing Authority. He saw and heard explosions before the Twin Towers fell on September 11, 2001. He shared his experiences with a reporter on that day and later in 2007 in video interviews with Dylan Avery. His job was threatened and later the BBC released a distorted version of an interview he had done with Avery. Avery then released the full original interview. Barry Jennings died August 19, 2008. His death was reported as due to natural causes. A private investigator was hired by Avery to determine what happened, the investigator later came back to Avery refunded his money and refused to investigate the death. There has been a media blackout around Jennings since.
Finally, several architects and engineers have come forward in a nonprofit investigation called Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. They state:
“The collapse we see cannot be due to a column failure, or a few column failures, or a sequence of column failures. All 24 interior columns and 58 perimeter columns had to have been removed over the span of eight floors low in the building simultaneously to within a small fraction of a second, and in such a way that the top half of the building remains intact and uncrumpled.”
They are saying all columns would have had to fail at once to achieve ‘freefall’. Even the NIST admitted there was free fall for a time until the very end. The fires in building 7 were intermitted and not all over the building. I would advise anyone who is reading this blog to go to the engineer’s site. Watch and read their information, and you will know there is much more to the story of WTC 7 than has been revealed.
My real question, are why is this not being researched more, why are we not being made aware by the media? This was the largest disaster in U. S. History. Never forget what happened on 9/11/2001. My most profound memory as I watched, were the people jumping out of the windows, so they did not burn to death. I saw a man and a woman hold hands as they jumped out into a free fall, it was the most disturbing and gut-wrenching thing I have ever seen. Today it is 18 years since that happened. We honor those who died and those heroes who tried to help the people trapped in the catastrophe.
